Synthetic horse rugs are chemically water proofed; therefore we recommend they are not washed with detergents, bleached or dry cleaned as this may alter the rugs ability to remain waterproof. If severely soiled, and a detergent must be used, use a very mild shampoo, do not soak the rug and rinse very thoroughly. If in doubt refer to the care labels attached inside the rug.
Hint: Use cotton rugs under your winter rugs, this not only helps keep the top rugs clean from the inside but the winter rugs can then be hosed from the outside, making cleaning much easier.
Cotton and polyester rugs may be either hand washed or gently machined washed in a mild detergent and rinsed thoroughly.
Always allow your rugs to dry completely in an airy position, especially after being subjected to hours of heavy rain or if packing away for summer. Rugs will last longer if put away for the summer and not left to perish in hours of scorching sunlight.
